China Smith(1952)

China Smith is a 1950s adventure series starring Dan Duryea as a white-suited soldier of fortune operating in Singapore. Each episode finds the title character navigating danger and intrigue across the colonial port city. The show was produced in two phases: the first 26 episodes were filmed in Mexico, while the second batch shot in 1954–1955. Director Robert Aldrich helmed two episodes. Much of the cast and crew also worked on the film World for Ransom, which served as an extension of the television program. The series proved popular enough to inspire a 1959 Daffy Duck cartoon parody, China Jones, which spoofed Duryea's iconic character and the show's adventure-serial formula.
