Beforeigners is a Norwegian sci-fi series set in the near future, where mysterious flashes of light in the ocean bring people from the past into the present day. These "beforeigners" arrive from the Stone Age, the Viking era, and the late 19th century, upending society and forcing rapid adaptation. Years after the initial arrivals, Viking warrior Alfhildr partners with Lars Haaland, a weary Oslo police detective, to investigate a beforeigner's murder. Their investigation pulls them into a sprawling conspiracy that challenges everything they thought they knew about why these people have returned. The series blends crime procedural tension with speculative worldbuilding, exploring themes of displacement, belonging, and the collision between ancient and modern values.
