Elfen Lied is a dark fantasy series about the Diclonius, mutated humans with horns and telekinetic powers that governments fear and imprison. Lucy, a violent Diclonius, escapes a laboratory after a brutal massacre, only to be shot and left for dead. She washes ashore with amnesia and is found by two teenagers, Kouta and Yuka, who take her in and name her Nyuu after the only word she can speak. As the trio settles into an uneasy coexistence, the line between Lucy's gentle amnesiac state and her murderous original personality begins to blur, threatening everyone around her. The series blends psychological horror with tragedy, exploring themes of identity, isolation, and the cost of being deemed monstrous by society.
