Neophyte(2017)

Neophyte is a Russian drama series set in April 1958, following Maria Krapivina, a brilliant law graduate who joins the criminal investigation unit of Leningrad's Central District Police. Thrust into a squad of hardened, war-scarred operatives, the idealistic young woman faces immediate culture shock and considers walking away on her first day. Everything changes when she uncovers evidence of a mole within the department connected to a dangerous criminal gang. Determined to expose the traitor and prove her worth, Maria launches a covert investigation that puts everyone under suspicion—including the unit's gruff, seemingly uncouth head, with whom she unexpectedly finds herself falling in love. As her investigation deepens, personal feelings and professional duty collide in this tense period drama about ambition, loyalty, and finding your place in a world that wasn't built for you.
