Triangle(1981)

Triangle was a BBC soap opera set aboard a North Sea ferry sailing between Felixstowe, Gothenburg, and Amsterdam in the early 1980s. The show followed the personal dramas of crew and passengers across three series before cancellation. Despite its earnest premise, Triangle became notorious for stilted dialogue and clichéd storylines, earning widespread mockery on radio and television. Terry Wogan's morning show frequently lampooned the series, causing considerable embarrassment to the BBC. The production used two different vessels: the MS Tor Scandia for the first series, then switched to the DFDS Dana Anglia for better filming logistics. By 1992, the BBC itself acknowledged Triangle's reputation by screening it as part of TV Hell, a primetime showcase of television's worst offerings. The series remains a curious artifact of British broadcasting history.
