Madrabaz(1979)

Madrabaz is a Turkish drama following Murat, a man freshly released from prison for manslaughter, who arrives in the coastal village of Kadırga under court-ordered exile. Staying with fisherman Hızır Reis, Murat discovers a community crushed beneath the iron fist of Topal Madrabaz, a ruthless market boss who controls every aspect of the local fishing trade. Determined to break the cycle of exploitation, Murat organizes the village fishers into a cooperative, sparking a dangerous confrontation between ordinary workers and entrenched power. The film explores themes of redemption, collective resistance, and the cost of standing against systemic corruption in a tight-knit maritime community.
