Thallana

Thallana is a drama film about a housemaid named Jaya whose twelve-year-old daughter vanishes without trace in Bangalore. When Sadanand, her employer and a man close to the girl, takes it upon himself to help search for her, the two face mounting obstacles. Indifferent bureaucrats, societal apathy, and outright prejudice work against them at every turn. As their desperation grows, Thallana becomes a portrait of how the system fails those without power or privilege. The film examines the collision between a mother's determination and a society unwilling to treat a poor child's disappearance with urgency. What emerges is both a tense missing-person story and a sharp critique of class and social neglect in contemporary India.
