Beware is a comedy film set at Ware College, a struggling historically Black institution in Ohio facing financial collapse. Dean Hargreaves reveals that the college's founder's grandson, CEO Benjamin Ware III, claims the estate is depleted—a claim the faculty suspects is retaliation for Annabelle Brown's rejection of his advances. Desperate for funds, instructors Drury and Annabelle organize a reunion to solicit help from prominent alumni. Among the invitees is Lucius Jordan, a timid dropout they remember as a failed student. Unknown to them, Lucius has reinvented himself as Louis Jordan, the celebrated king of swing and bandleader of the Tympani Band. His unexpected return threatens to unearth old feelings and secrets while offering the college an unlikely path to salvation.
