Cahaya Muthusamy is a film about Sam, whose estranged family hasn't celebrated Deepavali together in years. When his grandfather suffers a heart attack, Sam abandons his plans to move to Sydney and instead throws himself into reconnecting his fractured relatives. He attempts to bring them together through a home-cooked dinner and a family outing to Batu Caves, but tension and old grievances keep surfacing.
