Dig! is a documentary following two San Francisco rock bands whose intertwined destinies diverged dramatically. The Brian Jonestown Massacre and The Dandy Warhols emerged from the same scene in the 1990s, their founders Anton Newcombe and Courtney Taylor initially bonded by shared musical ambition. As The Dandy Warhols climbed toward mainstream success, The Brian Jonestown Massacre fractured under the weight of internal conflict and substance abuse. What began as friendship curdled into bitter rivalry, captured across years of raw footage. The film charts the collision between artistic vision and commercial reality, exploring how two bands with equal promise took radically different paths. Dig! is both a portrait of rock ambition and a cautionary tale about the costs of creative obsession.
