The Mysterious Club(1913)

The Mysterious Club is a Dutch crime drama following Gerhard Bern as he investigates his brother's shocking suicide. Suspecting foul play, Gerhard travels to Rotterdam with a detective to uncover the truth. The only lead is his brother's membership in a secret club. While staying with Consul Verstraaten, Gerhard meets and becomes engaged to the Consul's daughter Ilse. When a second club member dies under identical circumstances, a sinister pattern emerges: both victims held life insurance policies, and the club's leader, Mr van Gelderen, has collected the payouts. As Gerhard digs deeper into the club's mysteries, he must navigate his growing romance with Ilse while exposing a dangerous conspiracy that reaches far beyond simple suicide.
