Caballo prieto azabache is a Mexican historical drama that traces the unlikely bond between a humble horse breeder and one of the nation's most notorious revolutionaries. Jesus recalls his youth when he sheltered a drifter named Doroteo Arango, unaware the man would become the fearless gang leader Pancho Villa. Years later, as civil war tears Mexico apart, Jesus faces execution for the crime of selling a horse to Villa's enemies.
