Double Lunar Dogs(1984)

Double Lunar Dogs is a science-fiction film adapted from Robert Heinlein's 1941 story "Universe." Set aboard a spacecraft drifting through space, the film follows two passengers who have lost all memory of their vessel's original mission. As the crew has forgotten why they're traveling, the two protagonists—played by Jonas and Spalding Gray—attempt to recover fragments of their past through games and imagery. Their struggle becomes a meditation on memory itself, exploring what it means to preserve identity when history is erased. When the "Authority" discovers their efforts to reclaim memories of Earth, a now-destroyed world, the characters face reprimand. Double Lunar Dogs uses this post-apocalyptic setting to examine how memory shapes purpose and survival in a world untethered from its origins.
