The Girl from Ipanema is a biographical drama set in 1960s Rio de Janeiro, following 17-year-old Márcia as she navigates the glamorous yet isolating world of Ipanema's elite neighbourhood. Surrounded by bohemians, musicians and intellectuals, she moves through endless parties and social gatherings, projecting an image of carefree contentment. Beneath the surface, however, Márcia wrestles with profound inner turmoil and existential doubt. Inspired by the iconic bossa nova standard composed by Antonio Carlos Jobim and Vinicius de Moraes, the film explores the gap between outward appearance and emotional reality, capturing a pivotal moment in a young woman's life as she grapples with identity and belonging in a world of privilege and artistic ferment.
