Mississippi Rhythm is a musical comedy set aboard a riverboat heading to Creek City. Singer Jimmie Davis inherits half-ownership of a land development company from his uncle and shares a cabin with traveling salesman Dixie Dalrymple. When Dixie arranges for Jimmie to perform at a passenger concert, the singer gets drawn into a rigged card game orchestrated by Judge Homer Kenworthy and his associates. Jimmie wins big with Dixie's help, then exposes the cheaters. The film captures the charm of Depression-era riverboat culture, blending musical performances with a lighthearted con-game plot that keeps the action moving between deck performances and cabin scheming.
