The Reluctant Astronaut is a comedy about Roy Fleming, a small-town kiddie-ride operator terrified of heights. His domineering father enrolls him in the space program, and Roy heads to Houston expecting astronaut training. Instead, he lands a job as a janitor. Too embarrassed to admit the truth, Roy maintains the fiction of being an astronaut to his family and friends. When NASA announces plans to launch an ordinary person into space to test a new automated spacecraft, Roy faces an unexpected opportunity to finally confront his deepest fear and prove himself worthy of his father's expectations.
