Plumb Line is an experimental film that explores romantic dissolution through fragmented imagery and sound. Carolee Schneemann deconstructs the actions of two lovers, splitting and reassembling them in a disruptive montage of shifting permutations. She prints 8mm footage as 16mm, freezes moving images, repeats frames, and lets them dissolve into one another until the film itself ignites and burns. The work treats the physical medium as part of the narrative, collapsing the boundary between form and content. Schneemann's voice accompanies the visual chaos, creating a sensory experience that mirrors the emotional unraveling of intimacy.
