Buona parte di Paolina is an Italian film that dramatizes the scandalous life of Paulina Bonaparte, Napoleon's sister. Married to the ineffectual Camillo Borghese, Paulina pursues a string of young lovers and shocks Rome by bathing naked at Villa Borghese, her palatial residence. She poses seminude for sculptor Canova's famous statue, cementing her reputation as a libertine. When her conduct becomes intolerable to the Church, the Pope orders her confined away from men. After French troops remove the Pope and cardinals from Rome, Paulina descends into prostitution to satisfy her appetites. Seven years later, with Villa Borghese finally reopened to the public, she departs for Paris—to the profound relief of both Roman society and the clergy.
