Silent Storm is a documentary that exposes a shocking chapter in Cold War science. Between 1957 and 1978, Australian scientists secretly collected bone samples from over 21,000 deceased Australians to detect Strontium 90, a radioactive byproduct of nuclear testing. The film follows Hedley Marston, a celebrated scientist who discovered the contamination and attempted to expose the truth about British atomic tests in Australia. When Marston challenged official claims that the tests were harmless, he faced dismissal and was branded a security threat. His research was suppressed, and the health consequences for generations of Australians remain largely unexamined. Silent Storm reveals how government-sanctioned secrecy and scientific integrity collided during one of the Cold War's most troubling episodes.
