Fantastic Girls(2015)

Fantastic Girls follows Ayuko, a lonely Tokyo transfer student who arrives in Okayama in 1980 with little more than her boyfriend and her sketchbook. When classmate Takemi discovers Ayuko's romantic manga and becomes her closest friend, the two form an unlikely bond—until a falling out tears them apart. Thirty years later, Ayuko returns to her hometown as an accomplished manga artist invited to speak at her old school. There she reunites with Takemi, now a teacher, forcing both women to confront the friendship they lost and the lives they've built in its absence. This Japanese drama explores how youthful connections shape us, even across decades of silence.
