Death Cab for Cutie: Directions(2006)

Death Cab for Cutie: Directions is an innovative anthology film featuring 11 short films inspired by each track from the band's album Plans. Each song was directed by a different filmmaker, with two bonus videos of unreleased material included. The project emerged from otaku-house, a production company run by Death Cab bassist Nick Harmer and video director Aaron Stewart-Ahn, childhood friends who wanted to collaborate with emerging artists on a new kind of music film experience. Rather than traditional performance footage, the filmmakers created standalone visual narratives set to the songs, with the band absent from the screen. The result is a unified collection where each short film stands as individual art while contributing to a larger whole, freeing the directors from conventional music video constraints.
