Human Target is a Japanese crime thriller following a killer's obsession with vengeance. Yamabe escapes prison after serving time for a murder he committed while working for a drug smuggler. Two years earlier, detective Negoro's bullet meant for Yamabe struck and crippled Sakuko, Yamabe's girlfriend, during his arrest. While Yamabe was imprisoned, Negoro fell in love with Sakuko and she asked him to marry her—a union Negoro reluctantly accepted. Learning of their relationship, Yamabe vows revenge against the detective who took everything from him. The film explores themes of love, loyalty, and retribution as Yamabe pursues his deadly plan, caught between his desire for vengeance and the complicated bonds that tie all three together.
