Miranda's Letter(2016)

Miranda's Letter is a short film that reimagines Shakespeare's The Tempest through the voice of Miranda's absent mother. Rather than following the play's familiar narrative, the work imagines what Miranda's mother might have wished to tell her daughter—a letter that bridges the gap left by her mysterious disappearance in Shakespeare's original text. Commissioned as part of the Shakespeare Lives 2016 initiative, the film explores the untold stories of women sidelined in classical literature. By centering a female perspective often erased from canonical works, Miranda's Letter offers a poignant meditation on motherhood, loss, and the voices history has forgotten. The film transforms a Shakespearean absence into a powerful presence, giving agency to a character whose story remains unwritten in the source material.
