The Windjammer is a post-war comedy about Scott Elliott, a discharged Navy officer turned film executive, who returns to civilian life with an ambitious dream. Passing through rural Arkansas, he meets farmer Bob Burns and pitches a wild idea: making animals talk on screen. Burns is intrigued, and the two form an unlikely partnership—Elliott handling the technical side, Burns writing dialogue for their talking-animal film. They head to Hollywood with a producer's backing, but their project hits a snag when the financier sees half the completed footage and pulls out entirely.
