I Am a Teacher is a war drama set during the Great Patriotic War (1941–1945). Pavel Zubov, a schoolteacher, finds his village occupied by fascist forces. Devoted to his calling and anchored by faith in love and family, Zubov's worldview darkens as war's brutal realities unfold around him. Confronted by the enemy's true nature, he faces an impossible choice: adapt to the new regime to survive, or risk everything—his family, his ideals, his homeland—to resist. The film explores how ordinary people navigate extraordinary moral demands when occupation strips away the comfort of peacetime principles.
