Soldier Bee(2017)

Soldier Bee follows Captain Jodie Baxter as she returns home from Afghanistan, scarred by a roadside bombing that has fractured her both physically and psychologically. Struggling to reconnect with her husband and estranged daughter, Jodie finds refuge in a hotel where she can escape her fractured family life. There, she becomes fixated on an older man and a young sex worker, witnessing his abuse and degradation of her. When Jodie intervenes with brutal force, the encounter becomes a catalyst for confronting the trauma she's buried since her deployment. The film explores how violence, survival, and the need to protect others can unmask the deepest wounds of war.
