Heinrich der Verhinderte is a 1472-set comedy following Duke Heinrich von Libnitz, who gambles away his entire estate in a knightly drinking contest. Desperate to reclaim his fortune, Heinrich sets his sights on the Kingdom of Poland, lured by tales of a beautiful princess and an legendary wine cellar. He hatches an ambitious scheme to become king, convinced that Polish riches will restore his status. What follows is a series of misadventures that leave his grand ambitions in ruins—literally ending on a dunghill rather than a throne.
