Sunburn(2018)

Sunburn is a Portuguese drama set in a modern villa during a sweltering summer, where four attractive guests idle by the pool and in the bedrooms, all waiting for a mysterious fifth person who never arrives. As days pass in the heat, their complex relationships unravel through tense conversations and charged silences. The film slowly reveals why each character is drawn to this absent figure and what his presence—or continued absence—means to them. Director Ángel Gómez Hernández crafts a slow-burn character study about desire, anticipation, and the ways we construct meaning around those we've never truly known. The scorching landscape becomes a mirror for the emotional intensity simmering beneath the surface.
