Nice Girls Don't Explode(1987)

Nice Girls Don't Explode is a comedy about April, a young woman cursed with an unusual problem: whenever she becomes intimate with a man, objects around her spontaneously combust. Her string of firefighter boyfriends should have been a clue. The real culprit is her overbearing mother, who's engineered the chaos to keep April dependent and single. When Andy arrives and refuses to be scared off by the mayhem, April's carefully controlled world begins to unravel. Caught between her mother's manipulation and genuine romance, April must finally take control of her own life—before her cat Fluffy becomes collateral damage in the family drama.
