Madseeing(1974)

Madseeing is an experimental film that strips away narrative convention in favour of pure visual and psychological unease. Four isolated figures—an acrobat, a nurse, a German officer, and a majorette—occupy separate white rooms within a psychiatric hospital, their faces painted in stark skull-like makeup. Each moves with tense, desperate gestures and silent screams, radiating fear and anguish. The film offers no plot or dialogue, instead building dread through repetition, confinement, and the contrast between the mundane and the unsettling. A final tracking shot down an empty, sterile corridor lined with blank rooms amplifies the sense of institutional horror. Madseeing functions as a portrait of psychological distress rendered through surreal, haunting imagery.
