Arabella: Wiener Philharmoniker(2008)

Arabella is a film recording of Richard Strauss's comic opera, conducted by Sir Georg Solti with the Vienna Philharmonic Orchestra. Set in 19th-century Vienna, the opera follows a young noblewoman navigating love and social expectation in a witty battle of manners and hearts. Featuring traditional staging and period costumes, this remains the only widely available film adaptation of the work. The cast includes soprano Gundula Janowitz in the title role, alongside Edita Gruberova, baritone Bernd Weikl, and tenor René Kollo. Solti's direction captures the elegance and humor of Strauss's score in an intimate cinematic setting.
