The Arab Dream(1998)

The Arab Dream is an autobiographical documentary in which Palestinian filmmaker Elia Suleiman journeys through occupied Palestine—Jerusalem, Nazareth, and Ramallah—searching for his past and imagining his future. Every landscape he encounters carries political weight; he questions whether any place can exist free of ideology or meaning. Commissioned by ARTE as part of a millennial retrospective series, the film meditates on everyday injustices and explores how art and aesthetics might offer a response to them. Suleiman's travelogue is both personal and philosophical, wrestling with the impossibility of separating land from politics in a contested territory.
