Ilse and Her Three Suitors(1913)

Ilse and Her Three Suitors is a comedy about a young woman caught between her father's social ambitions and her own heart. Elza Grunner works as a model for the painter Bernhard, but her father insists she marry into high society—either the Count of Trutwitz or a wealthy American. Two actor friends devise a scheme to sabotage these prospects, impersonating both suitors and deliberately bungling their visits to win over her father. When the American's courtship turns sinister and he attempts to kidnap Elza, Bernhard steps in to save her. The chaos ultimately convinces her father that the humble painter is the right choice after all.
