Ark(2020)

Ark is a science fiction film following Captain Mira Bernhard's return from a five-year mission to the distant planet Gaia, humanity's final refuge. For Mira, the journey has been brief due to time dilation effects of space travel. But on Earth, forty-five years have passed. Her husband has aged into an elderly man, waiting decades for a wife who barely remembers the passage of time. The film explores the devastating personal cost of interstellar exploration—the impossible gulf between those who venture into space and those left behind. Bernhard must reckon with a world transformed, relationships fractured by relativity itself, and the question of whether humanity's survival justifies the sacrifice of individual lives and loves.
