Marriage Matters is a Chinese drama that follows Zhang Yilin through a devastating marriage to the rigid bureaucrat Shi Zifan. Trapped by feudal expectations and her husband's oppression, she attempts suicide in desperation. After liberation brings social change, Zhang Yilin finds the courage to break free from her unhappy union. She escapes to her hometown and reunites with her true love, finally claiming the life and marriage she always wanted.
