The Keeper is a mystery thriller set at Underwood Asylum in British Columbia, where wealthy patients are held while their family members die under suspicious circumstances. When Biggs hires private investigator Richard Driver to uncover the truth, Driver and his assistant Maybelline go undercover—she poses as his cousin, he as a narcoleptic patient—to expose the asylum's dark secrets. The keeper controls his victims through hypnosis and a mysterious machine that renders them catatonic, including the Biggs twins and a boy named Danny. As Driver and Inspector Clarke work to gather evidence, they must navigate the keeper's psychological grip over his patients and avoid becoming trapped themselves. A shoe-shining boy observes everything from the margins, harboring knowledge that could unravel the case.
