Country In Exile(2021)

Country In Exile is a documentary following the aftermath of Belarus's disputed 2020 presidential election. When the government brutally suppressed mass protests against alleged electoral fraud, thousands were imprisoned and tens of thousands fled the country. The film chronicles the lives of Belarusian exiles—politicians, activists, and ordinary citizens—who form a sprawling diaspora community abroad. Through their personal stories, Country In Exile captures what life has become for those forced to leave, documenting the human cost of political upheaval and the emergence of a government-in-exile. A year after August 9, 2020, the film pieces together a portrait of a nation fractured between those still fighting at home and those rebuilding their lives in exile.
