Shades of Day(2006)

Shades of Day is a suspenseful film that transposes Dostoyevsky's classic novella White Nights to modern Los Angeles. Linda, an enchanting woman, has spent years planning a reunion with her former lover Paul. When she encounters an extraordinary cast of characters—including a new lover and a movie producer entangled with the Mafia—her carefully laid plans unravel in unexpected ways. The film balances tragedy and comedy as it explores the thin line between them, blending romantic yearning with darker, more sinister elements. This is the first installment in a Dostoevsky-L.A. project that will adapt other literary classics into contemporary Los Angeles settings.
