Bob Dylan 1975-1981: Rolling Thunder and the Gospel Years is a documentary exploring one of rock music's most controversial periods. After joining the Vineyard Christian Fellowship Church, Dylan recorded three gospel albums and won a Grammy for "Gotta Serve Somebody," but his evangelical turn alienated longtime fans and drew fierce critical backlash. Director Joel Gilbert assembles rare interviews with Dylan's Bible class teacher Pastor Bill Dwyer, producer Jerry Wexler, background singer Regina McCrary, and others who witnessed this spiritual transformation firsthand. Through exclusive photographs, live concert footage, and TV appearances from 1975–1981, the film traces Dylan's journey across iconic studios including Muscle Shoals Sound and the Fox Warfield Theatre. The documentary captures how Dylan's radical shift in message and music reshaped both his career and his relationship with his audience during this pivotal era.
