Basque Selfie is a documentary following Agus Barandiaran, a renowned ambassador of traditional Basque music and dance, as he battles to save his family's 16th-century baserri from demolition. Local authorities plan to tear down the historic farmhouse to build a new road, threatening the physical anchor of Barandiaran's cultural identity. In Basque tradition, etxea—the family home—represents far more than shelter; it embodies lineage, heritage, and belonging. The film captures Barandiaran's struggle to protect his roots against bureaucratic pressure, exploring what it means to preserve identity in a rapidly changing world.
