Guests(1998)

Guests follows Gheni and Gherti, two young Albanian immigrants working at a restaurant in Rome. When they move into the home of Corrado, a photographer, the two men's lives diverge. Gheni pursues advancement at the restaurant while deepening his friendship with Corrado. Gherti, restless and searching for connection, forms a bond with Lino, an aging Sardinian who daily escorts his mentally ill wife through the sweltering, emptied-out city during summer. As the heat intensifies and the city empties, the film explores displacement, ambition, and unlikely friendships among outsiders navigating Rome's margins.
