Pétanqui(1983)
Pétanqui is a satirical film set during a drought, where a corrupt official responsible for food distribution lives lavishly while the population starves. When his son returns from France with a law degree, he's appalled by his father's lifestyle but agrees to defend him in court against embezzlement charges. The trial becomes a scathing indictment of government officials and civil servants who exploit their power for personal gain. As the case unfolds, it becomes clear that Pétanqui is merely a symptom of a much larger disease—a system so thoroughly corrupted that his crimes seem almost insignificant compared to those of his superiors. The film uses dark comedy to expose the hypocrisy and moral bankruptcy of those entrusted with public welfare.
