Sauce(1974)

Sauce is an experimental film that blurs the line between performance art and installation. A live performance unfolds in an intimate setting before an audience, but it serves as only one layer of a larger artistic vision. The filmmaker repurposes footage from the performance in subsequent installations, where he adopts various personas—channeling Miss Piggy and Heidi among others. Throughout the work, condiments and sauces—ketchup, mayonnaise, and chocolate sauce—feature prominently as both literal materials and conceptual elements, creating a playful yet provocative exploration of identity, consumption, and the nature of performance itself.
