The Nutcracker 3D is a stop-motion animated reimagining of Tchaikovsky's classic ballet, originally released in Japan in 1979 and now rendered in three dimensions. The film follows the traditional tale of a young girl's magical Christmas Eve journey through a fantastical realm. Art director Sebastian Masuda brings his distinctive visual style—known from Kyary Pamyu Pamyu's aesthetic—to create a vibrant, contemporary take on the beloved story. Kyary Pamyu Pamyu also contributes original music to the soundtrack. This adaptation blends the timeless choreography of Marius Petipa and Lev Ivanov with modern animation techniques, offering a fresh perspective on a holiday favorite while honoring the source material's elegance and wonder.
