War Live(2000)

War Live is a 1999 Serbian film set in Belgrade during NATO's bombing campaign. Producer Sergei and his struggling film crew face financial collapse and crew unrest as airstrikes begin. When a State Security officer arrives seeking American co-producer Harvey, Sergei hides him, fearing arrest. Desperate to save the production, Sergei devises a bold scheme: announce a new patriotic film starring Harvey. The gambit succeeds—the state funds the project and assigns the security officer to oversee it. But tensions simmer beneath the surface. During the first screening, the officer denounces Sergei and his team as artists rather than patriots, exposing a fundamental clash between creative freedom and state ideology. The film captures the absurdity and danger of making art amid war and political pressure.
