Arechi no Koi(2016)

Arechi no Koi is a Japanese drama spanning two decades of a poet's life. In 1947, Kitazawa Taro helps launch the influential poetry magazine Arechi alongside fellow writers reshaping post-war Japan's literary landscape. By 1975, the 53-year-old works a modest job at a newspaper while raising a family with his wife Haruko, content in quiet domesticity. That equilibrium shatters when Kitazawa develops feelings for Akiko, the wife of his longtime friend Mitamura. Choosing passion over stability, he abandons his job and family to build a new life with Akiko, who has also left her marriage. As the two navigate their unconventional relationship, both rediscover artistic fire and creative purpose. The series explores how desire and ambition can upend ordinary lives, examining the cost of chasing intensity over security in middle age.
