Paper Moon is a Japanese drama series about Rinka Umezawa, a housewife seeking small moments of joy in her quiet life. Working part-time at a bank, she builds trust with elderly clients by visiting their homes and helping with chores. Everything shifts when she meets Kota, the troubled grandchild of a client, whose presence unsettles her deeply. Desperate to help him, Rinka embezzles one hundred million yen and disappears. Two years later, her former high school friends Yuko and Aki uncover the theft while investigating the case, forcing each of them to confront their own hidden darkness. The series explores how a single encounter can unravel a carefully constructed life and how the past inevitably catches up with us all.
