Under the Thumb is a Russian drama about Kostya, a successful advertising executive whose comfortable life unravels when his father dies unexpectedly. Suddenly burdened with running the family shoe manufacturing business and supporting a household of dependent relatives, Kostya must navigate responsibilities he's never wanted. Estranged from his fiancée Sonya, his daughter Marusa, and his ex-wife, he's unprepared for fatherhood or business leadership. Yet grief becomes a catalyst for change.
