The Queens of Sweden(2020)

The Queens of Sweden is a documentary series that profiles eight influential Swedish queens across four centuries of Nordic history. Each episode traces one queen's life from childhood through her final years, revealing how these women wielded considerable political and cultural power despite standing officially in their kings' shadows. Drawing on real events from the 16th century to the 1930s, the series reconstructs pivotal moments at authentic Swedish locations including Stockholm Castle, Rosersberg Castle, and Gripsholm Castle, often filming at the exact sites where history unfolded. Additional scenes transport viewers to Germany, France, Italy, Switzerland, Egypt, and the Netherlands, capturing the international scope of these royal lives. This is the first time these compelling stories have been told in documentary form.
