Salt of the Earth(2014)

Salt of the Earth is a Japanese drama series that weaves together archaeology, romance, and mystery. Archeologist Kensaku Kamimura unearths evidence of human habitation in Japan far earlier than previously believed, a discovery set to reshape history textbooks. As editor Rina Sakuma works with Kensaku to document his findings, she grows drawn to him. Their collaboration is disrupted when human remains belonging to a female student missing for thirteen years surface at an excavation site. Detective Taichi Yukinaga reopens the cold case, but complications arise when a scholar reveals that Kensaku's groundbreaking discovery may have been falsified. The series explores how ambition, deception, and the search for truth collide as multiple investigations unfold in the small village of Shiona.
